Head of College

Dear Members of the Canterbury College Family

This week we held the first of our Open Day events for 2019. After such positive news items about the College in recent weeks, we were expecting good attendance numbers, and we were not disappointed. Our student ambassadors did themselves and the College very proud, we received many reports from prospective families on their exceptional behaviour and knowledge.

We recognised Shrove Tuesday and Ash Wednesday this week in very different ways. In an annual tradition, our Junior School held their much anticipated Masterchef competition on Tuesday. As the photo shows, the Discovery Centre was inundated with all manner of yummy treats. Congratulations to the winners and to all of the students who baked and brought in such lovely creations. We raised $800 for the Anglican Archbishop’s Appeal. Thank you to the parent helpers who assisted with the smooth running of this event.

We recognised Ash Wednesday in a quieter and more reflective way with a Chapel Service in the CEC on Wednesday morning. Reverend Mee gave the Imposition of Ashes to staff and students later in the Recess breaks. There was a very long line of Junior School students awaiting her in the Discovery Centre.

Thank you for working in partnership with us.
