Term 1 Week 6

Pacific District Success
During the week, Year 4 student Scarlett Nelson competed at the South Coast Regional Trials for Swimming. Scarlett did extremely well in what were competitive fields for her events, narrowly missing out on making the Regional Team. Congratulations Scarlett and we look forward to hearing about your future swimming successes.

Last week, Year 6 student Juliana Tamala was selected in the Pacific District Under 11 Netball Team. Juliana will head to South Coast Regional Trials later this term. We wish Juliana all the best with her next round of trials.

K – 6 Interhouse Cross Country Carnival
On Wednesday 27 March, the K – Year 6 Interhouse Cross Country Carnival will be held from 8:30am – 11:30am. Students both this week and over the next couple of weeks will be going over their course with both Mr Ben Maxfield and Mr Arnie Marraiya in PE Classes. Parents and spectators are welcome and encouraged to attend. CLICK HERE for an information letter and it will also be made available by email and the College App.

Student Organisation
This week during Junior School Assembly I spoke to students about the importance of being on time for training sessions and games and the role that students can play in making sure they organised. Some of the points which were raised were;
• Packing bags the night before with all the required equipment (not the morning of the event)
• Getting up 15 minutes earlier to allow time for the unexpected things which may arise that morning
• Talking to parents about what students can do to help out (this could be a small task which needs to be done in the morning and/or night and will help with building independence as well as taking ownership over tasks. It does not have to be big it could be as simple as taking the rubbish out to bins).

Training Sessions and Student Pick Up
Thank you to all students for wearing correct uniform to training sessions and games. It is important that students who are participating in hockey bring their mouth guard and shin pads to all training sessions and games. Without these items, students will be unable to take part.

It is also important that students are picked up promptly at the conclusion of afternoon training sessions. A staff member will be present at the Junior School pick up zone (in front of the Junior School Office) at 5:00 pm. Students who have not been picked up by 5:10pm will be taken to OSHC. There is a charge for this service.

Please note that in the event when training sessions for JTAS and Prep – Year 3 are cancelled the following processes are followed;
• Information on the cancellation will be emailed to parents and uploaded to the College App
• If the training session is cancelled by 4:30pm the day before the scheduled session, parents and carers will need to pick students up after school the following day or arrange care through OHSC. No supervision will be provided via Canterbury Staff coaches or managers
• If the training session is cancelled the day of the scheduled session, supervision will be provided via Canterbury Staff coaches or managers in a designated classroom. Information regarding the cancellation and supervision room will be emailed out to parents and carers as well as uploaded to the College App.

Wet Weather
In the event of wet weather please call the Wet Weather Line on 3299 0995 to find out if training sessions and/or games have been affected. Information will also be published on the Canterbury App. Please access this information after 6:30am on the morning of the event.
