Junior Sport

Term 2 Week 9

Term 2 Wrap Up
It has certainly been a very busy term of sport in the Junior School which has seen the involvement of over 80 students in Prep to Year 3 with Net Set Go and Rookies to Reds as well as eight Junior TAS teams competing in Rugby and Netball fixtures. 72 students travelled to John Paul College to compete in the JTAS Cross Country Championships with a large contingent of parents and spectators making the trip to support Canterbury College students. All this is not possible without the help and support of our parents and spectators who week in week out get students to the various commitments scheduled. Thank you for all that you do.

Beenleigh Zone Track and Field Success
Last Wednesday 33 Junior School students headed to Windaroo State School to represent Canterbury College at the Beenleigh Zone Track and Field Championship. It was an extremely successful day which saw Canterbury College win their division. A special mention must go to all students on their efforts at this carnival as well as being fine ambassadors for the College. Congratulations is also extended to Mikala Fox (Year 5), Elize Lee (Year 5) and Taylor Goodwin (Year 6) on their selection in the Beenleigh Zone Team to compete at District Trials early in Term 3.

Term 3 JTAS Sport – Basketball and Football
Just a reminder that Junior TAS Basketball and Football training commences on Tuesday 16 July (Week 1, Term 3). Students will need to meet outside the Year 5 Classrooms where they will be taken to their training areas.

Training for both sports is held on a Tuesday and Friday morning 7:00am – 8:00am. The first round of fixtures will be played on Saturday 27 July. The draw is still being finalised and will be sent out during the first week of Term 3.

Prep – Year 3 Football Program run by Total Football Academy

In Term 3, Canterbury College will be offering the Mini Kickers Football program run by the Total Football Academy. During the 6 week program games will be played inside an inflatable soccer field, which captures the imagination of students, giving them a great soccer experience.  Training will take place inside a skills square focusing on different skills each week, such as dribbling, turning and shooting.  As part of the program players can also purchase a soccer kit (Top and Shorts). The cost for the program is $101.50 (includes $2.50 booking fee).

The program starts on Wednesday 24 July for Prep to Year 3 Students running from 3.30pm - 4.30pm. To sign up online visit www.totalfootballacademy.com.au or call Danny Morton on 0473 344 778. Please see the flyer below.
