Term 3 Week 4

Canterbury Rowers
On Saturday 20 July and Sunday 21 July, the Canterbury College Rowing Team attended the South Queensland Schools Regatta.

Once again, Rowing Queensland asked Canterbury College to host the Regatta and it is a massive operation which is undertaken by the parent body of the Canterbury Rowers. It involved weeks of preparation and organisation, one whole day to set up and then two days of running the regatta.

There were 508 athletes entered to compete at the South Queensland Schools Regatta which was held at Wyaralong Dam, Beaudesert. While running the Regatta our Canterbury parents started working at 4:00am and finished at 6:00pm. Thank you to all our parents that were involved in hosting another successful South Queensland Schools Regatta.

All Canterbury Rowers performed well, with many crews making the finals. Special congratulations must go to the Year 9 Girls Quad composed of Gian Bilson, Victoria Kuhn, Kate Neill, Lilly James and Ella Vasquez (cox) who narrowly missed out on making the final of their event in their first ever race as a crew.

TAS Trimester 3
The TAS Trimester 3 season is well underway. There has been some wonderful action the last two weekends when Canterbury hosted John Paul College in Round 2 before travelling to Ormiston in Round 3.

Our Volleyball Girls have led the way, winning 16 out of the 22 matches played this term. Congratulations to Mr Andrew Porter and his team for all the work they have put into the Volleyball program which goes from strength to strength. Girls Touch had a clean sweep against John Paul, followed by a close round against Ormiston. Our Navy Touch teams both remain undefeated. The Boys Basketball had two strong wins over Ormiston, with an especially dominant Year 10 team putting on a show. The Year 10 Boys Football teams also tasted victory, coming from behind to score three second-half goals.

Vicki Wilson Netball
An outstanding achievement by our Open Vicki Wilson team who are the first Canterbury Open age team to win their way through to the State Championships. The team were undefeated in the pool rounds before beating Chisholm College in convincing fashion in the first final. Just like the Shield team, our seniors needed to beat Helensvale State High to secure a regional championship medal. The girls played a controlled and disciplined game - securing a 5-goal victory.
