Sports Awards Evening
The 2019 Canterbury College Sports Awards Night was held on 14 October where we not only acknowledged our Award winners, but also celebrated the fantastic participation of Canterbury students in our sporting program.

The philosophy of Canterbury sport has always been to give every student an opportunity to participate, as well as provide a pathway for our talented students to excel in their sport activities. Every student who stood on stage experienced the benefit of participating in sport this year and their contribution, together with their parents' commitment adds to the College community and College culture that is unique to Canterbury. Our Coaches and Managers were also presented on stage for everyone to applaud their dedication and expertise that ensures students at Canterbury College have a wonderful sporting experience.

Thank you to all who attended and congratulations to all the Award winners.

Vicki Wilson Champions
Our Vicki Wilson Cup and Shield campaign started in June this year and we had great success at each level. Our Cup team were Regional winners and qualified for the State Championships for the first time in the College’s history.

Our Shield teams had a great Regional Carnival, with one team placing third and our other team completing the rounds undefeated. This record remained intact during the September holidays, with the girls being untroubled and finishing top of their pool. A comfortable quarter final win created the semi final clash against one of the tournament favourites. In what was one of the most physical games of the year, the girls broke away in the final quarter through sheer determination and superior composure. This win set up a mighty clash in the final where Canterbury took a strong six goal lead in the opening minutes and held onto this margin for the entire game. With a bronze and silver medal secured in previous campaigns, it was a great honour for the girls to be named 2019 State Champions.
